A Sufi-Hasidic Farbrengen: Reb Zalman, Shlomo Carlebach, Murshid Siddi Hassan al-Moumani, 1b. This is an amateur recording of an interfaith event held at Moshav Modi'in in Israel with Murshid Siddi Hassan al-Moumani, a Sufi sheikh of the Qadiri Order from Balata. It was led by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, but included Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and Rabbi Meir Fund. In it, Schachter-Shalomi speaks about Murshid Siddi Hassan and the relationship of these two Abrahamic brothers (Islam and Judaism), and then Murshid Siddi Hassan speaks to the assembled people through Miryam, his wife (and sometimes Schachter-Shalomi as well) and leads the group in a Sufi dhikr (practice of divine remembrance). At a certain point, the original recording of the event is recorded over with Schachter-Shalomi speaking to a few students the next day about Jewish prayer and leadership. But after, the original recording continues.
