a. French---a turban of loosely arranged fabric forming a peak. About 1800. b. French---a bonnet of straw bound to the head by a handkerchief and ribbons. Fringe was popular. About 1800. c. French---a riding hat of beaver following the fashion of men, with the large curled brim and crown enlarging at the top. About 1815.
