Abstract:
Recorded lecture #19 provided by Dr. Peter Ossorio from his advanced personality course titled Personality and Personality Theories. Ossorio continues to discuss George Allport's trait theory of personality. The class reviews the chess game from the end of lecture #18. During the second half of the lecture they talk about self actualization.

He briefly talks about the history of American psychology. He also talks about the concepts of the inner man and the outer man. 01:26:25 Ossorio asks the class to look at their book about the description of self and appropriate functioning. 01:28:15 Ossorio talks about phenomenology and William James’ theories of the self. 01:29:25 Ossorio circles back to Allport’s theory of the self and its functions. 01:30:25 Ossorio talks about the connections of self and longitudinal development.
