Title from film container. Reel combines possibly original travel footage by Leroy H. Miller (ca. 1928) with tinted footage (ca. 1936), possibly from another source. Intertitles (ca. 1936) offer description and commentary from the perspective of an American traveler. Travel footage in Malaysia and Indonesida, indentified as "Penang, Prince of Wales Island" and "Sumatra." Includes footage of train ride through countryside; pagoda; local people going about their daily lives; policeman directing traffic; a circus traveling; local fashion such as batik pants; local architecture; and animals, including water buffalo and a monkey. Intertitles with descriptions and commentary describe people eating in a "native cafeteria." Includes footage of tourists gathering to board cruise ship, interacting with people playing music in costume or traditional dress.
