00:00:00 Opening credits. 00:00:17 A woman opens the cover of a magazine titled "Holiday" issue "March 1947" and reads “Mexico.” The magazine opens to show a picture of a train and text that reads “Narrow Gauge Holiday.” A woman holds a pamphlet titled “Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad – thru the Rockies – not around them – issued March 21, 1949.” The film continues to show a map of train routes and stops. Audio begins to play the sound of a train running on a track and a man asking for train tickets. 00:01:01 Cars drive over railroad tracks. The next scene is from the viewpoint of a passenger on a train. It shows the train tracks and landscape as the train moves forward. Audio changes from the train on the tracks to a song with narration that states “We have left Alamosa, Colorado riding one of the last known Gauge passenger trains which maintains daily schedules and carries luxury equipment.” The narration continues to explain the route of the train as it travels towards Durango, Colorado. Music continues to play as scenes of the mountains and railroad depots pass by. 00:05:42 Narration begins again and the man talks about the Cumbres Pass summit the train must climb which is 10,000 feet in altitude. The music begins again once the narration ends and shows views of the landscape. 00:07:44 Exterior view of several Rio Grande trains pulling in and out of a train station. 00:08:34 A camera pans to exterior views of the buildings in town and narration begins to talk about how the Rio Grande railroad serves the “lonely San Juan County in southwestern Colorado.” 00:09:55 Narration talks about the history of the travelers throughout San Juan. He continues to say that passengers used to carry rum in case of snake bites. Music continues to play when the narration ends. 00:11:14 Title card reads “The End” appears on the screen. 00:11:26 End of recording.
