Description:
Danish designer Verner Panton established his own practice in Copenhagen in 1955, working with many firms and furniture and fabric manufacturers. His interest was in a total design that included innovative environments. The Living Sculpture sofa, developed 1970-1971 for his own house in Basel, consists of nine polyurethane foam elements connected by a system of dowels and covered in a wool weave. Its unique design, both comfortable and playful, offers a new take on indoor habits and occupations. It was exhibited at the Cologne Furniture Fair in 1972.
