Another somewhat disappointing work is the decoration of the vault of the presbytery, S Maria del Popolo, Rome, featuring the Coronation of the Virgin, in a complicated pattern of squares and ornaments intended to imitate mosaic. This was Pinturicchio's last work, in which his main assistant was probably Giovanni Battista Caporali. [Cappella di Sant'Agostino done later by followers].
