Between 1488 and 1491, again with assistants, Pinturicchio frescoed a ceiling in the palazzo of Cardinal Giuliano della Rovere (1443-1513) and four chapels in the right aisle of S Maria del Popolo, Rome. In the first of these, built for Domenico della Rovere, the Nativity is autograph. Pinturicchio's designs for the grotesques were directly inspired by those on the ceiling of Nero's recently rediscovered Domus Aurea. (Source: Grove Art Online; http://www.groveart.com/)
