This collection contains the "Book of Remedies," handwritten by Mary A. Flower, c. 1850 in Fredonia, N.Y. The book contains recipes for folk remedies and consists of 148 images (including front and back covers). The first portion of the book is indexed in pages [82-93]. Much of the latter part of the book is blank (pages [117-122], [124-139]). The inner front cover bears the label of a previous owner (James B. Henderson, 2320 South Madison, Denver 10, Colorado); his name is also stamped on bottom of page [7]. The inner back cover includes checkout card & pocket (checked out to L. B. Speck [sp?] in May-June 1952). Also included in the collection is an incomplete, typed transcription by Professor Eugene Irey, as well as the photocopy of the entire book.
