Description:
A photograph album compiled by Pearl V. Turner documenting the Colorado Mountain Club's third annual outing, where they travelled on foot from Grand Lake to Estes Park, Colorado over 13 days, in the area that would become Rocky Mountain National Park just a few months later. The images include many of Colorado Mountain Club members both hiking and at leisure. Specific locations include Mount Craig, Ute Mountain, Lulu City, Lulu Peak, Shipley Park, Mount Richthofen, Specimen Mountain, Flattop Mountain, Mount Ypsilon, Horseshoe Park, Fall River Trail, Convict Road, and the Horseshoe Inn.
Note:
Consists of a bound photograph album with 127 gelatin silver prints, many labeled in white ink in English. A 21-page typescript description of the trip is located in an attached evelope at the end of the album. A 21-page pamphlet titled "Songs," by the Colorado Mountain Club and made for this 1914 outing, is taped into the back of the album as well. Accompanied by 4 loose typescripts related to the outing. 3 are made as satirical newspapers, titled "Shipley Park Hobnail," "The Grand Lake Squawl," and "The Fall River Avalanche." The final typescript is titled "To the Officers and Members of the Colorado Mountain Club? Greetings from Three of the Members of the Prairie Club Homeward Bound."
