He also mentions Helen Levitt's still photography and argues that 'In the Street' possesses her style. He compares the portrayal of the slums in 'The Bicycle Thief' and 'In the Street.' Brakhage tells some stories about Leni Riefenstahl. He gives biographies of Vittorio De Sica and Roberto Rossellini and how 'Rome, Open City' started their careers in Italian Neorealism.
