Rabbi Zalman is interviewed about his experiences with psychedelic drugs and how they have influenced his work and perceptions. The film starts with recounting his early life experiences which lead up to his spiritual quest. While doing his Master's he began studying various religions and psychology. He read Aldous Huxley's "Doors of Perception," which was pivotal in his desire to experience other levels of consciousness. He describes meeting Timothy Leary at Harvard and his subsequent "experiences" with Leary. He discusses the importance of the homework done afterword. Ultimately one has to prep, digest and do contemplative work after the experience. Quotations from Martin Buber, Ram Dass, Aldous Huxley and Abraham Maslow are recounted. He believed that Maslow's Transpersonal Psychology evolved from Humanistic as a result of these experiences. He goes on to describe how we can use these experiences for mentoring in the future, especially in his work in Spiritual Eldering.
