Abstract: 
Bible. O.T. Numbers. Latin. Northern France, possibly Burgundy [Pontigny?], ca. 1240 [ca. 1200?] Leaf from a Bible with an illuminated initial 'L' inhabited by a double-bodied dragon, thus nicknamed the "Dragon leaf." Text: end of the Book of Leviticus and opening of the Book of Numbers. Rubric before the illuminated initial: Explicit liber Vagedhra. Incipit liber Vagedaler quod est Numerii. Vagedhra and Vagedaler are Hebrew words used to denote Leviticus and Numbers. Red and blue penwork on back.
Abstract: 
Latin Bible (Leviticus 26: 26 - Numbers 1: 19). Northern France (?), early s. xiii. 443 x 303 mm. Parchment. Single leaf. Double column; each column 312 x 98 mm.; 22 lines to a column; ruled and bounded; prick marks in inner margin. Large historiated L (beginning of Numbers), extending above the top column margin and into the gap between columns, of double-headed dragon in pink, blue, and white; 5-line initial L with red and blue penwork ornamentation on reverse.
