Abstract:
|
Vellum. 3 bifolia, 15 lines per page. 4 1/2" x 6 1/8". Single column; 90 x 63 mm.; 15 lines; ruled. Several elaborate 2-line historiated initials: N on pink and blue ground, incorpo¬rating a winged dragon on a gold ground, with black flourishing, extending into upper and lower margins; D incorporating a serpent on a gilt background, with flourishing extending along upper margin; E divided into two parts by medial stroke: upper lobe contains zoomorphic grotesque with pink head, blue body, and red tail; lower lobe contains four-legged creature with a bird head; both parts are on a blue ground; 1-line gilded initials with blue penwork; painted blue initials with red penwork various forms of line filler, many gilded.
