This is a panel discussion about the types of generals entrusted to retain order and peace, either mercenaries or aristocrats (in the 18th and 19th century) as at the time, that was the best way to get into the officer corps. It was said, and a commonly held belief, that generals possessed divine guidance and intuition following from hereditary lineage. Professionalism and confidence was necessary while competing with other nations, and compromise was necessary while moving between old and new systems. The speakers end the panel by featuring different military organizations and emphasizing the importance of their work and interaction with students on college campuses.
