Abstract:
"Chicana Leadership and Activism on CU's Campus and in the Colorado Chicano Movement." This presentation explores the leadership of several Chicana activists at CU Boulder before, during, and after the Los Seis de Boulder bombings, including Neva Romero, who died in the first bombing on May 27, 1974. This research is part of a larger effort led by Professor Montoya and her student research assistants to produce a work of scholarship documenting the political and community activism of Chicanas throughout Colorado.
Note:

Anthony asks if any of the activists discussed during the presentation were inspired by the 1951 Empire Zinc mining strike; 45:20 Jesse asks another question from the audience, that being, which archives were used to find resources about Chicana movements and women?; 49:00 Jesse asks a question from the audience, that being, what is the criteria to select a story to cover and whether the project is limited to Colorado; 50:49 Jesse asks another audience member's question, that being, how do we ensure these narratives are shared beyond our Colorado ethnic studies courses?; 53:20 Jesse reminds the audience that Mateo Vela was unable to make it to the presentation. She asks one final question from the audience, that being, was Celeste able to dig deeper into Ramero's background during an election takeover?; 55:40 Celeste offers her email address if the audience has more questions and the presentation ends.
