USN ; Kenai: Spencer Black Alaska RR July 31, 1957; USN VAP 61, Tango Det No. 025/ Roll SP 3 Target N-5; Taken for IGY Project 4.2; 025 N VAP-61, Det T USN SP-3/N-5, 31 JUL 57, 0040Z 24 3,000' NC 05 [deg.] 149 [deg.]02 W 60 [deg.]42 N GLA; Note the old dikes constructed in 1907 to divert the water that was then flowing thru the gorge at the left, this failed (see T&M 1912) and water was then diverted into channel along edge of 1911 terminus- along line now followed by stream flowing between the 2 rock hills. Also note cleft at lower end of old dike. This may be the old quarry where they obtained stone for a dam at the lower end of the rock hill. This old dam may be turned in gravels now or it may be in the forest along edge of stream at the end of the rock hill. CCM; Note ablation cones on left side of gl. Mentioned by Wentworth & Ray; ice-damned lake appears to be drained here 7/31/57.
