The three west portals are united by the draped socle and the band of foliage that weaves around the capitals, also seen on this panel, from the interior west wall (the ""reverse portal"") to the right of the central portal of the west facade (ca. 1245-1255). This is part of the ""gallery of kings""; a theme of the iconography is the affirmation of the divine dimension of the monarchy through the Church of Reims, site of the baptism of Clovis and the crowning of French kings.
