Brakhage describes William Faulkner's 'Light in August' as a "story within a story" and plays an audio clip of Faulkner reading a passage from it. Brakhage describes Ryunosuke Akutagawa and reads his suicide note. He gives a biography of Charles Olson and plays an audio clip of Olson reading one of his own poems. Brakhage reads a passage from one of Akutagawa's journals. The lecture concludes with Charles Ives' 'Remembrance.' Note: The audio file's volume is very soft, making it difficult to understand even at louder volumes.
